LONDON, Ky.—Officials say a 55-year-old Pennsylvania doctor has been sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to distributing thousands of methadone tablets in Kentucky.
U.S. District Court Judge Gregory F. Van Tatenhove also sentenced Randy Weiss, of Richboro, Penn., to one year home detention and three years of supervised release, and ordered him to pay a $50,000 fine.
Weiss pleaded guilty in March to conspiracy to distribute methadone from his doctor's office in Pennsylvania to individuals from Floyd County, Ky.
A news release Friday from the U.S. Attorney's office for the Eastern District of Kentucky says Weiss admitted he distributed more than 11,000 methadone tablets in a two-year period.
Weiss was sentenced Thursday.
