Ten candidates are running for the three county commissioner positions. Those include seven Republicans and three Democrats. The field will be narrowed to two Republicans and two Democrats in the May 15 primary election.
REPUBLICANS
Steve Chronister Age: 53 Residence: West Manchester Township Family: Wife, Julie, and three children: Ryan, 22, Gretchen, 18, Jordan, 16. Occupation: Incumbent county commissioner (since 2004), previously a real estate agent, developer and investor. Education: York Catholic High School Community involvement: Former West Manchester Township supervisor (1992-2003), raised funds for various charities through golf events, co-founder of the York County Junior Golf Association.

Jeff JoyAge: 42 Residence: New Freedom Family: Wife, Rebecca, sons Benjamin and Kyle Occupation: Municipal Planner/Trainer for the York County Office of Emergency Management Education: Graduate of Susquehannock High School, class of 1983, graduate of the Broadcasting Institute of Maryland in 1984, emergency management certification from the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency. Education: Graduated from William Penn Senior High School, certificate from Penn State's two-year rural leadership program, many vocational classes Community Involvement: Second year as a member of the Dover Area School Board, serves on the Lincoln Intermediate Unit 12 board, Dover school district treasurer, chairman for district building and grounds, serves on district budget, transportation and technology committees.

Occupation: Incumbent county commissioner (since 2004) Education: Queen of Peace High School, Chicago, bachelor of science in special education from Northern Illinois University, masters degree in special education with a focus on people with multiple disabilities from Northern Illinois University, specialist degree in counseling of the disabled from the University of Kansas. Community involvement: Former Springettsbury Township supervisor (1992-2003), member of the executive board of directors of York County Economic Development Corp., the executive board of directors for Martin Library, the board of directors of Lancaster-York Heritage Region, the board of directors for YorkCounts, active with Leadership York and Future Leaders of York, serves as mentor for students interested in county government.
