Work was cancelled Monday for the 30 employees at Dallastown's Gerhardt USA facility, where a three-alarm fire broke out Sunday night.
Environmental cleanup crews were on site Monday, removing hazardous chemicals from containment areas inside the building at 400 Locust St., said production manager Justin Sheriff.
He said it's possible the environmental cleanup will be completed Monday, and some Gerhardt staff members could be called back to work as early as Tuesday for other cleanup work.
Around 150 firefighters from 15 departments responded to the fire, said Darryl Ehrhart, deputy fire chief for Rescue Fire Co.
Firefighters were dispatched around 10:38 p.m. Sunday, Ehrhart said.
Smoke could be seen pouring from the roof as crews climbed on ladders to reach the fire with hoses.
There was a "heavy amount of smoke," when firefighters arrived to the scene, Ehrhart said.
York and Lancaster county HazMat teams were dispatched to the scene as a precaution because it was a manufacturing facility, he said.
The company produces machine equipment. It took about two hours for crews to extinguish the flames, he said, but there were no injuries.
Ehrhart said a cause is still undetermined.
A state police fire marshal arrived on the scene to investigate Monday morning.
