NORRISTOWN, Pa.—A water main break has caused Pennsylvania American Water to tell some suburban Philadelphia customers to boil water before drinking it.

The problem affects parts of Norristown, East Norriton Township and Plymouth Township. Customers who only had low water pressure, but didn't lose water service, don't need to boil their water.

The water company says customers who lost water service should keep boiling water until at least Monday as a precaution. The water main broke on Saturday.

Until the advisory is lifted, water for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and food preparation should be brought to a rolling boil for one minute, then allowed to cool.
