FLYERS' TIMONEN LIKELY OUT OF EAST FINALS: Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Kimmo Timonen will likely miss the Eastern Conference finals against the Pittsburgh Penguins because of a blood clot in his ankle. Philadelphia general manager Paul Holmgren said Timonen was hit with a shot in Game 4 against Montreal. The Flyers won that series in five games and will open the next series at Pittsburgh on Friday night.
U.S. TOPS GERMANY: Zach Parise's power-play goal with 8:57 remaining snapped a tie and gave the United States a 6-4 victory over Germany in a qualifying-round game at the world hockey championship on Thursday night. Earlier in Halifax, Rick Nash scored the tiebreaking goal with 3:58 left to lift Canada over Norway, 2-1.
