The Revs held a one-run lead until the sixth inning at Commerce Bank Park Thursday night, but Somerset rallied with two runs and captured a 2-1 victory in the first game of a four-game series.
The loss was the Revolution's seventh straight on the road and York and Lancaster are the only Atlantic League teams without a road win this season.
Sean Smith -- signed days earlier because of injuries to outfielders Jeff Duncan and Michael Ryan -- provided the game-winning RBI single after Matt Hagen tripled to lead off the seventh.
Josh Pressley went 3-for-4 for Somerset (7-7) and Scott Wiggins pitched six innings of one-run ball. Jason Richardson picked up the win in relief.
Gassner sparkles in hard-luck loss: York (5-8) wasted a great outing from David Gassner, who made his second start of the year.
Gassner pitched seven innings and only allowed two earned runs but was stuck with the loss.
The Revs' Travis Ezi tripled with no outs in the sixth, but the trio of Matt Padgett, Matt Esquivel and Tyler Von Schell failed to drive him in.
Padgett did finish 2-for-4 and drove in Sandy Aracena in the third for York's only run.
York's offense still struggling: The Revolution offense -- hitting only .166 on the road this year entering the night -- managed six hits in the game.
Jason Aspito gunned down David Housel in the sixth for his third outfield assist of the year.
The
Franklin takes the mound Friday night: The Revs will send Wayne Franklin (2-0, 1.59 ERA) to the mound Friday night against D.J. Mattox (0-1, 6.00 ERA).
