The Dover Area School District board reminds me of a bully who starts a fight and then angrily asks, "Who called the cops?" when the police arrive.

In their latest campaign ads, Dover's incumbent school board candidates ask who brought the American Civil Liberties Union to Dover. The answer is obvious: They did.

If they hadn't tried to skirt the law by inserting their "Intelligent Design" statement into the science curriculum--knowing full well a lawsuit would be the inevitable outcome -- the ACLU wouldn't have to be here.

By trying to blame the ACLU for Dover's problems, Dover's school board members are trying to divert attention away from those who really bear the blame for the $1 million mess we're in: Themselves.

It's time to elect a new school board that will put our community and the education of our students ahead of personal agendas. That won't happen, though, if voters simply pull the Republican lever on Nov. 8.

I urge Dover voters to set party politics aside and vote for the qualified Dover C.A.R.E.S. candidates listed under the Democratic ticket.
