GOP CONSISTENCY
No gas complaints
It is so typical that you don't hear much from the Republicans about the fact that the price of gasoline has increased from a little over a dollar a gallon when George W. Bush took office to well over $3 a gallon today.
But if the government had put a tax of a similar two dollars a gallon on the price of gas during those years there would have been a clamor and uproar from the Republicans, which would have been deafening.
According to the Republican philosophy, a government tax on gas to fund alternative energy research or even to fund Bush's stupid and immoral war in Iraq with cash rather than with the no-limit credit card now being used is bad, but handing the same amount of money over to greedy oil companies and billionaire Saudi Arabian sheiks is good.
At least the Republicans are consistent. If something benefits the rich and powerful at the expense of everyone else, it's always peachy keen with them.
